There are many components used in the industry such as pipes, tubing and the valves. In plumbing industry, the valves play a very important role. The valves are the device to regulate the flow of the fluids such as liquids, gases, slurries, or fluidized solids by opening, closing or partially barricading the various passageways.

There are several types of the valves that commonly found in the market. From the way to operate the valves, we recognize the manual valves and the automatic valves. The manual valves are operate manually either by a hand wheel, pedal or level. The other type of the valves, the automatic one is operated by the changes of floe, temperature or pressure. In controlling the flow of the fluids, the valves can be differentiated as the ball and the mixing. The Ball Valves is the type of valves which has a single part of the valve which controls the flow through it. The other type is the mixing one which is designed to combine the flows of two or more inlets into a single outlet. The most common example of the application for this type of valves is to combine the hot and cold water received from two inlets.

If you want to get the valves, you can get valves you can get it through the shop that offers you the plumbing equipments such as pipes and tubing. However, now you can also purchase the valves easily through online shops. One recommended site to go is the Pexuniverse.com. it is an online shop that is specialize in provide you the PEX plumbing supplies. On the site you can get many plumbing equipments including the PEX valves. For the valves you can get various types.

Grow a beautiful garden the water wise way

Saving water and enjoying the beauty and environmental benefits of plants are not only possible, but easy says the American Association of Nurserymen (AAN). “Water Wise” gardening is built on some basic, commonsense principles:

Planning

Planning a water wise garden or landscape is as easy and fun-as planning any type of garden. Talk to the professionals at your local center/landscape firm to see which plants will do well in your area. You may be surprised to find that some very beautiful, colorful plants are low on water consumption-and they may fit into your landscape perfectly.

Group together plants that require the same amount of water. Plant trees and shrubs to provide shade to cool buildings, air conditioning units, patios, decks, and other landscape features. Shelter container plants by moving them to shady areas. Spike or aerate lawns to insure maximum water penetration. Control weeds which compete with useful plants for water.

Soil Improvement

Soil improvement is another easy and beneficial step in building a water wise garden. Soil that is well prepared at the time of planting influences the plant’s initial development and yields the best results. And plants placed in the proper soil will be healthier, often needing less water.

Soil characteristics include texture, structure, depth, and nutrients. To find out more about your soil content, test your soil with the following garden products: Accugrow Soil Test Kit or the Sunleaves Three-Way Meter.

Wise Irrigation

Efficient irrigation is a critical part of water wise gardening. Your irrigation system can be simple, such as a hand-held hose, or elaborate, such as an in-ground sprinkler system. Consider a drip water conservation system, which can save up to 60% of water used by sprinkler irrigation. Whatever you choose, make sure you plan your watering to get best results.

Deep, infrequent watering, promotes root growth and is the wisest use of water and encourages strong rooting. This provides greater tolerance to dry spells. Water early in the day, and on less windy days, to reduce evaporation loss. The ideal time is from dawn to 9:00 a.m. Turn off sprinklers before water is wasted as runoff into gutters and streets.

Mulching

Mulching is always a benefit to your garden and can help prevent soil erosion and evaporation, conserving the water that is available and keeping your plants healthy and strong.

Maintenance

Maintaining your water wise garden means learning how to water all over again. You may find that watering less means having more time to sit back and enjoy your garden. Generally, plants should be watered less often and for a long period of time. Drip, soaker, or deep root watering promotes healthy plants and less water use.

Water Wise Gardening Tips

Follow these handy watering tips from AAN, and you’ll soon be started on your own environmentally sound garden or landscape. For garden products mentioned in this article, please visit http://www.spray-n-growgardening.com

With the old familiar variety of garden hoses as well as black Poly irrigation systems, there are two major problems that occur along the length of the hose or pipe, one is cracking and/or splitting of the hose/pipe and the second problem is the familiar kinking of the hose/pipe. So what can you do about it besides going out and buying a new hose or roll of poly’ pipe? Well there is at least one repair method that should help with either problem. Without the cost and problems of putting expensive joiners into your watering system.

Split Hoses/Pipes

What do you do once your garden hose or irrigation pipe has developed a crack or split after your son has mowed over it or you’ve managed to drive over it once too often?

With either type of system, you could cut out the section of the damaged hose or pipe and put in a joiner, but sometimes this is impractical or impossible. Then why not look at repairing it instead of replacing it. Use the same method as you would for a kinked hose. Which is listed below.

Kinking Hoses/Pipes

Once a garden hose or irrigation pipe has jack-knifed back on itself at a particular spot, it will continue to do so for the life of the hose/pipe. This is because it has become weakened at that point. Again you have the option to cut out the weakened area and join the remaining parts of the hose. Or you will have to look at repairing the weakened area to stop it kinking in future, you can do this by bracing the weakened area/s by the following method . . .

What you will need to repair split/kinked hoses or irrigation pipes

An excess section of garden hose or irrigation pipe A Sharp knife or blade Container of hot water Measure and cut off a small section of hose/pipe, approximately three inches long, or as long as is needed to cover over the weakened or broken area. Cut this section down its length on one side only.

Soften the hose or pipe section in hot water. Open it up and wrap this like a bandage around the weakened section of hose/pipe.

This acts like a splint over the weak area, strengthening it so that at that point it will not kink or fountain out water anymore.

If you are repairing a split area of the hose you may have to look at sealing the hose with something like a silicon sealant. But you will find that simply putting the hose splint will greatly reduce and/or stop the leak.

The hose or pipe splint will not move off of the weakened or split area because it rehardens fairly quickly as it cools, this tightens its grip over the weak part of your hose/pipe.

Repeat this procedure for other areas that are split or are prone to kink of the garden hose or irrigation pipe that you are using.

So if that garden hose or irrigation system of yours is split in one or more places or is kinking all the time, and it is frustrating you no end, then do something other than throwing it out. Either repair it or at least keep the old hose or pipe to repair your future watering systems.

Repairing A Rotted Soffit

If you don’t even know what a “soffit” IS, then chances are you’re not the best candidate to do repairs on it! Many older houses naturally start rotting at the weakness points, one of them being the soffit – or the underside of an arch, stairwell, cornice or overhang. Often times even newer houses need their soffits replaces because squirrels and birds tend to nest in the eaves, gutters or outer wall space next to the attic. The soffit, typically made of soft plywood, hardwood, or soft panels of vinyl and aluminum, routinely comes into direct contact with rain water, ice and snow from the gutters. If your gutters have been displaced or if a shingle tears, the soffit will rot out over time. Atlanta painting contractors often specialize in solving this external problem for you, thus preventing more serious damage to the interior as well.

To replace the rotted soffit, you would need to pry off the shingle mold running along the top edge of the fascia board and yank out all the nails that held the rotting board in place. Next, replace the board with a pre-measured or trimmed piece of hardwood, vinyl or aluminum. Remove any decorative trim beneath the soffit and remove the rotted soffit. Note that this part of the process is usually rather disgusting, since you never know what kind of dirt, dust, bee nest, squirrel nest, or debris will come off. Now you should be able to see the frame clearly and ascertain where the water damage and decay started. You may need to rip out additional plywood sheathing and use your saw to take out the section of rotted rafter or roofing. You’ll have to cut four or more inches from the decay, to account for stress fractures that may have left room for water to seep in. This is where the tools come in handy: you’ll need a powder-actuated nail gun with a .22 caliber blank to nail in the new section.

You’ll also be attaching a pressure-treated 1×4 or 1×6 onto the newly sawed rafter, fastening it with 2.5” galvanized screws going from the new into the old rafters. Now you can cut a new soffit from a 3/8-inch A/C plywood, first coating the front and back flat surfaces with an exterior primer and the edges with a wax emulsion sealer (like AnchorSeal) to protect from water damage. Apply sealer with a foam or bristle brush. Nail the soffit into place and replace the trim you’ve removed. Cut a new fascia board and replace it. (Warning: This requires careful measuring to get the right size!) Now prime all four surfaces of this board. Seal the end cuts and install it, then nail up the shingle molds along the fascia.

Sound like a LOT of work? IT IS! The process is extremely convoluted for anyone who isn’t a skilled tradesman. What might take a novice several days could be done in an afternoon by an Marietta Georgia painting contractor. Therefore, you may want to track down a contractor to meet your needs. Not only will your home look totally renovated and newer, but more importantly, you will be protecting your home from premature aging as a result of water and rot damage.

A room or cabinet furnished to provide water vapour through damp steam which stimulates perspiration is fundamentally named a Steam Shower.

Many home owners report that their concrete does not look as good as it first did, and indeed some concrete looses its looks and become cracked and dimples and rust stains. This look damages the house look and many find it to be plain ugly, the solutions that people apply to this problem is usually covering the whole concrete surface with different thing, mattress and clothes from all materials, but covering the concrete does not solve the problem just provides a temporary solution you need to remove once it starts raining.

The real solution for this problem is using concrete paint. You can use concrete paint to cover the whole surface and make it look completely different, the paint will help you change the look and you can also add some sand to the paint to help prevent problems like slipping or falling on the concrete because of water or cracks, the paint will make these problems disappear.

Whenever talking about changing or replacing concrete we are talking about an expensive work that will almost surely take some time and effort that might disturb the family living in the house for some time, this is why the concrete problems should first try to be solved by a quicker and simpler solutions, the concrete paint solution is much shorter and easier than redoing the whole area of the concrete. The only thing you need to do is visit a shop and decide on the color that you want, buy the other necessary things for this project, find some free time and paint your concrete.

There is also place for creativity when painting your concrete, you can buy a few different colors, make a plan of how you want to paint it and paint geometric shapes, different patterns, words and letters, colors that correspond to the house colors, swirls and circle shapes and check board shapes. You can also use templates for these shapes, you will need to make or get durable templates and use them to give your concrete a unique look.

The only important thing you should bare in mind is that before painting the concrete you will need to examine all the concrete surface to make sure that it is clean and dry, in any case you should clean the whole surface to make sure that no oil stains or water is not present on the surface because concrete can hold a lot water. You can clean the surface by using a broom on the dry surface and then using a broom and some strong cleaning produce, washing like you do at home, and then using water to wash away the soap. Once the concrete is clean and dry the painting can start.

Once you will complete the painting you will understand how easy and simple it is to reinvent your concrete surface look, and also understand that once you are bored with the colors you could change again and again, good luck with your new concrete paint and new concrete surface.

Paint stripping is the act of removing paint from a certain object or surface for a particular reason. It could be for the purpose of renovation or for a health concern such as to remove paint which may contain a harmful chemical such as lead.

Removing paint may be accomplished through varying methods. One could be through proper use of chemicals which is the easiest and quickest way to remove paint. The paint stripper is initially applied to soften the painted surface then scraped off or washed away with water. Chemical paint removers come in a variety of forms such as semi-paste and liquid forms.

Here are some basic types of paint removers are obtainable from the market:

Liquids dry too fast and so are best for clean coatings with one or two paint layers only. They are also suitable for irregular surfaces and stubborn pots.

Brushables come in a thick, paste-like form that can be applied in intense layers to stay wet longer than liquids so as to remove ten or more layers of paint in a single application. Due to its extra sticky formula, it could be applied to overhead or vertical areas and can be washed away with water.

Sprayables, which may come in spray bottles or sprayers, are meant for easy application. Although they are thin enough to spray, such chemicals are thick enough to adhere and are also water washable.

Aerosols are formulated for convenience and speed in the application of paint remover. Like sprayables, they are also sprayed onto the surface but produces a foamy layer thick enough for removal of numerous paint layers. They are best for smaller jobs and for working on areas hard to reach with a brush.

Sanding is another method of removing paint using any type of power or hand sander. There are different types of power sanders, such as belt, disk or drum sanders, in the market which are ideal for bigger sanding jobs. Paint can be removed from the surface quickly and easily through sanding but it could also remove some of the surface underneath the paint such as in woods. Thus, paint from fine pieces of furniture is not commendable to be removed by sanding. In manual sanding, it is better and more effective to use an open coat, coarse sand paper instead of fine sand paper as the latter clogs up rapidly. Sanding methods is recommended only on extremely rough paint removing jobs.

The application of heat is also another method of paint stripping. When heat is applied onto the painted surface, it destroys the film of the old paint which results to an easier scraping of the old paint away from the surface. Heat guns, or special electric paint removers may be used to accomplish this method. After the application of heat, immediately scrape off the paint by utilizing a broad paint scraper. If working on a painted wooden surface, keep in mind not to allow the heat gun to stay on one spot as it may burn the wood. Keep moving the gun on various areas to prevent darkening or browning of spots due to excessive heat.

Do you own an indoor wall fountain, but don’t know how to care for one? Are you thinking about buying an indoor water fountain, but are afraid they are too hard to care for? Below you will see how simple it is to care for your indoor wall fountain in just 4 simple steps

1. Keep your water fresh from the start

If you are able to use distilled water in your fountain, this is going to be ideal. If you have a large fountain, this is might not be feasible, so most people opt to use regular tap water in their larger fountains. When you use tap water in your fountain, you will start to see some lime or calcium build up over time. This is normal with any water feature. Another issue you will see over time is the presence of algae. To help prevent some of these problems, there are several products available like Fountain Fresh, No More Algae, or No More White Scale. Using fountain care products will definitely help keep your water fresh from the start.

2. Keep your fountain pump completely covered in water

It is very important that the pump be completely covered with water at all times. Over time, water evaporates, so you will need to add water occasionally. The frequency will depend on your climate and atmosphere in your home. The size of your water fountain will also be a factor. Larger fountains will not need water added as often because they will typically hold more water.

3. Always keep your water fountain running

There is no need to turn your water fountain off. In fact, it is much better for the pump if it is left on all the time. Doing so will prolong the life of the pump because it is not being turned on and off. If cared for properly, your pump should last at least a year, if not 3 to 5 years. Your water will also stay cleaner if the fountain is kept running. Still, stagnant water that is not moving will develop debris and buildup much faster.

4. Clean your water fountain and pump regularly

Cleaning your water fountain should be a fairly simple process. This should be done every 2-4 months depending on if you are using distilled water or hard water. When cleaning the fountain you should completely empty the water out, wipe the basin with a clean cloth or sponge, clean any rocks that are in the fountain so they are clean of algae build up. You will also need to keep the pump free of debris and buildup. Your pump will be the first thing to see build up as this is what the water is flowing through and filtering the water. You can simply take the pump out of your fountain and wipe it clean with a sponge or cloth. Remove the cover of the pump and clean out the inside as well. If you have small areas in the pump, try using a toothbrush to scrub these hard to reach areas.

A sparkling window is the desire of everyone. Clean, bright shiny windows add a new look to every house. Like furniture, windows require their own cleaning methodology to keep them looking new and tidy. Here are 7 simple ideas to give your windows a marvellous shine.

1) Ensure that you dry your windows in one direction – leftwards or rightwards. Mixing the direction will leave unpleasant streaks on the glass and make it look untidy.

2) Before you wipe the window glass, remove all dust from the windows so that in applying a wet cloth, you do not leave mud on the window. Water and dust will form mud.

3) If you are cleaning window sills, rub the whole surface with a damp cloth sprayed with alcohol so that all the spots will clear off for a beautiful shine.

4) Windows are very sensitive to dirt. You should therefore apply only clean water in cleaning windows and in cases where you use damp cloth, use only clean cloths.

5) If the glass is greasy or smoky, apply some vinegar to the water before you clean the window. Vinegar removes grease without leaving streaks or stains.

6) When cleaning windows which are beyond the reach of you hand, use a step ladder if the height is medium or use a regular ladder if quite high. Always ensure that the safety clip is on and if possible, get some one to hold the base of the ladder for safety reasons.

7) Sprays are convenient to use than buckets of water. In cleaning windows of considerable heights, try to use sprays instead of buckets of water as they can spill and you will have to do everything again. The sheer weight and burden will get you tired easily.

Getting a window to shine is an easy task. All you need is the above window cleaning tips.
